Band and Pay Rates

Band 3 pro-rata (as and when required).

Daytime availability is essential and pay will be according to the following rates:

Daytime (6am to 8pm) – minimum 2 hours paid for face‑to‑face or video interpretation. Telephone interpretation paid minimum 30 minutes.

Out of Office Hours (8pm to 6am) and weekend – hourly rate: minimum 1 hour paid for face‑to‑face or video interpretation. Telephone interpretation minimum 30 minutes paid at an enhanced rate.

Plus mileage and parking are paid only from base/nearest hospital to another location; no home‑to‑base mileage or parking for the first appointment to the base hospital.

+If you do not work, when required, within the first 3‑6 months (depending on circumstances), you may not be offered work again.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for providing a confidential, efficient and effective interpreting service to health professionals and patients in both the hospital and community settings on a sessional basis (as and when required) according to the specified time, either daytime or out of hours and weekends.

You must be available for induction training and orientation days.


Qualifications and Experience

Possession of an interpreting qualification is essential and experience of interpretation, preferably in a hospital setting, is required.

Interpretations are conducted via face‑to‑face, telephone and video, so knowledge of IT systems (e.g., MS Teams & Accurx Flemming) is also essential.
