Bring energy, care and creativity to the start of a child's journey
As an Early Years Practitioner, you'll help shape a child's first experiences of learning, friendship and play. You'll be part of a team that brings joy and support to children and their families every single day - creating safe, engaging spaces where every child is seen, supported and given the chance to flourish.
Working Style:
You'll be based in the Borough for five days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.
What you'll be doing:
1. Join a close-knit, caring team, working with children aged 0-5 in one of our community nurseries. Activities vary daily, from building a fort to comforting a child after a tough drop-off or helping a child express their feelings.
2. Support planning of fun, engaging activities that facilitate learning through play, both indoors and outdoors.
3. Be hands-on throughout the day—changing nappies, preparing snacks, encouraging independence, and celebrating milestones.
4. Be a key person for a small group of children, developing relationships with them and their families to respond to their needs—whether for support, reassurance, or remembering their favorite stories.
5. Ensure inclusivity, making every child, including those with additional needs, feel welcome and able to participate in their own way.
This role is fast-paced, sometimes noisy and messy, often full of laughter, and always focused on helping children feel secure, curious, and cared for.
What you'll bring:
1. A minimum Level 2 Childcare Qualification recognized by the Department for Education.
2. Experience working in an early years setting (preferred).
3. Warmth, patience, and energy.
4. Ability to work well in a team, be open to learning, and adapt daily.
5. Confidence in building relationships with parents and carers.
6. Good understanding of child development, especially for two-year-olds and vulnerable groups.
7. Familiarity with EYFS and safeguarding guidance.
8. Willingness to complete a DBS check and First Aid training if not already held.
