As our Senior Fundraising Officer (SFO) you’ll play a central role in leading and helping to shape Groundwork’s income generation, project development and funder management activities across the South of England. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your skills to a fast-paced, varied role, leading a highly motivated, lively and expanding fundraising team!
Summary of role: The SFO will be responsible for identifying and securing funds towards a wide range of social and environmental projects, as well as managing an ongoing portfolio of projects in need of funding. This will involve generating income from statutory sources, trusts and foundations; you’ll work closely with colleagues across the organisation to identify significant/suitable statutory and major grant income sources before developing and submitting bids to the relevant funders and partners. The SFO will manage the tendering and application process, and support the development of programmes and projects. You will be responsible for the development, writing and submission of tenders and major grant applications, and for positioning Groundwork on relevant Frameworks.
With close support from the Fundraising Manager, you will line manage and support the professional development of a small team of fundraisers, whilst identifying, devising and implementing new systems/processes to improve efficiencies and maximise income in line with the Trust’s Fundraising strategy and annual income targets.
You will also play a key role in supporting the Fundraising Manager in supporting meaningful, long-lasting relationships with a range of funders, partners and other stakeholders; with the aim of raising the profile of the organisation’s activities and helping secure funds which closely align with our mission, vision and aims.
The successful candidate will have:
* Proven experience in writing high value (>£100k) bids and tenders
* Confidence in writing creative and compelling proposals for targeted funders
* Excellent relationship building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience of line managing staff and/or volunteers
* An ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise multiple tasks
* An ability to take the initiative in identifying and proactively developing new Fundraising & Development opportunities
* An interest/ passion for creating greener, more sustainable communities
