TheCorporate General Manager is a member of the Corporate Operations team. Thepurpose is to plan and organise a broad range of complex activities orprogrammes, and will provide leadership to a defined strategic generalmanagement portfolio to support the delivery of high quality clinicalservices and the effective day to day operational management across theTrust.

TheCorporate General Manager will support the Director of Operations, DeputyChief Nurse and Deputy Chief Medical Officer and the Assistant Directors byproviding a senior general management resource, capable of co-ordinatingprojects and initiatives, delivery of business, workforce and financialplanning as well as handling ad hoc issues delegated by the CorporateOperations team.

Theywill make judgements involving highly complex facts or situations, whichrequire the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.

Main duties of the job

Work within the CorporateOperations Team to provide operational business management and planningsupport.

Ensure that resources are deployedeffectively and that robust processes are in place to support the provisionof efficient, high quality, services

Responsible for relevant capitalprogrammes and associated budgets

Developing and sustaining capacityand capability within portfolio areas of responsibility including associatedperformance standards.

Engaging on behalf of CorporateOperations with internal and, where appropriate, external stakeholders;promoting partnerships and co-operative working

Ensure business continuity and riskmanagement arrangements are in place

Contribute to the delivery of Trustobjectives

Attendance at the relevantPerformance Team meetings

Key member of the Trust CancerBoard and report on issues related to cancer performance and risks

Attendance at Lead Managers Groupon behalf of the Trust

Maintaining links with the ICB andCancer Alliance coordinating key areas of work across LTHT on areasidentified for commissioning or improvement

Project Lead for the delivery ofspecific action plans approved by the Trust Board to improve cancer servicesacross the Trust.

Under the direction of theDirector of Operations be responsible for the delivery of the national cancerstandards and targets across the Trust.

Job responsibilities

Attendance at the relevantPerformance Team meetings

Key member of the Trust CancerBoard and report on issues related to cancer performance and risks

Attendance at Lead Managers Groupon behalf of the Trust

Maintaining links with the ICB andCancer Alliance coordinating key areas of work across LTHT on areasidentified for commissioning or improvement

Project Lead for the delivery ofspecific action plans approved by the Trust Board to improve cancer servicesacross the Trust.

Under the direction of theDirector of Operations be responsible for the delivery of the national cancerstandards and targets across the Trust.

Supporting CSUs to achieve thenational cancer standards, through a number of mechanisms including pathwayre-design and performance management.

Provision of performance, Peerreview, COSD and audit information and analysis to MDTs, CSUs, Trust CancerBoard and Corporate Operations team relating to cancer

Lead, on behalf of the Trust, workwith external partners on issues such as pathway re-design, development ofInter Provider Transfers and implementation of breach allocation guidance andwork to understand the impact of and implement the sustainability andtransformation plan for WYAAT in relation to cancer services.

Peerreview and the Improving Outcomes Guides (IOGs)

Leadership of the Trustspreparation for the peer review of its cancer services.

Delivery of the action plansarising from peer reviews

Project management and leadershipof the work to ensure Trust compliance with the emerging IOGs.

TheLeeds Cancer Centre (LCC)

Responsibility for management anddevelopment of the cancer information system, and its use across the Trust.

Provision of a cancer singlecontact point for the referring cancer units across the WYATT, Harrogate andYork district and support the Cancer Alliance in their work to improve theircancer services and national target performance.

Management of the production of theLCC annual report.

Provision of an operating frameworkand performance management process for the CSUs to support the centralmanagement but local support of the MDT co-ordination staff.


Person Specification


Additional Requirements

* Willingness to undertake training and development as identified through the Personal Development Planning process
* Application of HR policies and procedures
* Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy


Experience

* Significant experience of: Successful leadership Understanding and application of service improvement techniques.
* A range of management disciplines and legislation relevant to job e.g. H&S, HR.
* Successful operational management at a middle/senior management level.
* Sound financial management
* Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
* Personal resilience and ability to prioritise work to meet challenging deadlines.
* Managing multi-stranded situations where there may be conflicts of opinions involving a wide range of stakeholders.
* Ability to make judgements and decisions leading to resolution through effective negotiation /problem solving.
* Strong analytical skills; literacy, IT and numeracy skills with the ability to produce a range of documents or presentations for a wide variety of audiences.
* Sound understanding of NHS priorities, including National, Local and Trust Targets.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety management
* Knowledge of marketing techniques and their practical application in the NHS environment

Qualifications

* Educated to Masters level e.g. professional health service qualification
