Senior / Principal Civil Engineer – Infrastructure (Highways & Drainage)

A growing transport & infrastructure consultancy in Guildford is seeking a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer to help deliver development-infrastructure projects across the South East.
This role suits someone who can take ownership of design work, manage projects, and support junior engineers—while working in a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
The Role
* Design of highways, access, junctions and public realm schemes
* Surface water & foul drainage strategies (SuDS, attenuation, greenfield runoff)
* Detailed modelling using Civil 3D and InfoDrainage/MicroDrainage
* S278/S38 highway works and S104/S106/S185 drainage applications
* Cut & fill, external levels, utilities and site-wide infrastructure design
* Supporting planning submissions with technical reports and drawings
* Managing programmes, budgets, clients and design deliverables
* Providing technical review, guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
* Working closely with transport planning and external project teams
Requirements
* 5–12+ years’ experience in civil engineering / development infrastructure
* Strong technical capability in Civil 3D and InfoDrainage/MicroDrainage
* Solid understanding of S278, S38, S104, S106 and S185 processes
* Experience delivering residential, commercial or mixed-use schemes
* Ability to take the lead on design packages with minimal supervision
* Comfortable managing clients, deadlines and project delivery
* Strong written and verbal communication, including report writing
* Chartered or working towards chartership beneficial (ICE/CIHT)
