Job Title: Technical Documentation Writer
Role Overview This is an entirely new role within the business, a great opportunity is being presented. Using your initiative, ambition, and self‑drive, you’ll take ownership of developing a complete suite of technical documentation for our telematics systems.
We are seeking a Technical Documentation Writer to develop, maintain, and improve technical installation and support documentation for vehicle safety solutions, CCTV, telematics, and associated hardware. This role will ensure that our service engineers have clear, accurate, and visually engaging guides to support installation, configuration, and fault diagnosis activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, product management, and our supply chain team to produce and maintain high‑quality technical documentation, including installation guides, how‑to manuals, fault‑finding documentation, and component databases with up‑to‑date SKU and HS code information.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain installation guidesfor CCTV, telematics and vehicle safety systems, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
* Create "How‑To" and fault‑finding guidesfor engineers, installers, and customers.
* Produce detailed image files and diagramsshowing product components, system layouts, and labelled parts with SKUs.
* Collaborate with engineering and the supply chainto update SKU records, ensuring accurate part descriptions, HS codes, and associated documentation.
* Maintain a central documentation library(digital knowledge base) for all installation and support materials.
* Ensure documentation meets company standardsfor technical accuracy, usability, and branding.
* Continuously improve documentationbased on user feedback, new product releases, and regulatory requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
* Proven experience creating technical documentation for hardware or electronic systems (preferably telematics, automotive, or IoT devices).
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.
* Excellent written English with attention to detail and clarity.
* Experience with database or ERP systems for SKU/part management.
* Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, production, and logistics teams.
* Background in electronics, automotive engineering, or telecommunications.
* Knowledge of import/export documentation (HS codes, part classification).
* Familiarity with telematics systems, vehicle integration, or CAN bus technology.
