Job Purpose
This role supports Cencora's wholesale distribution services in Europe through the Alliance Healthcare business. You will play a pivotal role in launching, continuously improving, and driving success at our next‑generation Central Logistics Centre (CLC) in the B24 postcode area. The CLC is designed with advanced automation and cutting‑edge robotics to redefine how Alliance Healthcare manages and delivers medical, health and beauty products across the UK.
Job Scale
The Control Room Specialist provides core shift cover and ensures the efficient operation of the warehouse control system (KNAPP) and Manhattan warehouse management system (WMS). Responsibilities include planning and monitoring system performance, troubleshooting equipment, and partnering with departments to resolve issues.
Principal Accountabilities
System Monitoring and Issue Resolution
* Provide core shift cover of Knapp and Manhattan WMS, tracking and documenting operational status.
* Identify and mitigate systematic bottlenecks to maximize system capacity.
* Monitor system performance to ensure optimum throughput and availability.
* Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex control system issues.
* Seek solutions to resolve system issues promptly to minimize downtime.
* Partner with the technical team to develop best practices for the WMS.
Operational Leadership
* Act as the point of contact for on‑shift team leaders and department managers.
* Collaborate to ensure smooth communication and efficient issue resolution.
* Ensure warehouse systems use workload information daily to optimise service and efficiency.
* Continuously monitor and improve system performance to enhance operational productivity.
* Provide KPI data to leadership for planning and tactical processes.
* Oversee technical resource development and strategic planning.
Support and Coordination
* Assist team leaders with technical support and insights into system performance.
* Coordinate with IT and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
* Build a positive work environment and encourage teamwork and continuous improvement.
* Use influencing skills to address challenges in a timely manner.
Health and Safety and ESG
* Ensure system compliance with safety standards and company policies.
* Promote a health and safety culture and continuous improvement.
* Adhere to regulatory compliance standards including EU Good Distribution Practice and SOPs.
Operational Efficiency
* Maintain high quality and accuracy in all warehouse operations.
* Support the Knapp team to minimise operational impact.
* Coordinate efforts to address system faults promptly.
* Support weekly pick strategy changes.
* Optimize A‑frame channel set‑up and slotting changes.
* Manage outbound flow and tactical workload prioritisation.
* Monitor system performance to ensure expected levels.
* Identify trends and patterns to improve throughput and availability.
Essential Requirements

* Experience in an automated, high‑volume warehouse.
* Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues.

* Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365.
Desirable Requirements
* Strong knowledge of KNAPP, WMS and automated technologies.
* Knowledge of regulatory compliance and quality standards in pharmaceutical distribution.
