I’m currently partnering with a long-standing client in South Lanarkshire who is looking to hire a talented Developer to join their team on a permanent basis from January 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a role that offers involvement across the full development lifecycle- from design and build, through to testing, deployment, support, and ongoing maintenance of the company’s websites and internal systems.
The successful candidate will play a key part in delivering high-quality, scalable solutions and maintaining strong development standards across the business. Alongside web development, you’ll also gain exposure to administering and maintaining the company’s ERP application and associated IT systems, including their intranet.
We’re looking for someone with a broad technical skill set, a strong problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work across multiple languages, technologies, and platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop new operational features and business requirements across multiple company websites.
* Maintain, monitor, document, and support all relevant platforms and environments.
* Proactively analyse and enhance website security.
* Provide weekly and monthly updates and insights to senior management.
Essential Experience & Skills
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in web development, including PHP (front and backend).
* Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming.
* Strong HTML, CSS (SCSS beneficial), and JavaScript skills.
* SQL experience (MySQL & MSSQL) – data definition and manipulation.
* Experience integrating with web-based APIs (XML/JSON).
* Experience building RESTful APIs.
* Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
* Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
* Motivated, enthusiastic, and strong time-management skills.
Desirable Skills
* PHP frameworks (Laravel, Symfony).
* JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js, jQuery).
* Experience with task runners/compilers (npm, webpack).
* eCommerce platforms (Magento, Shopify, Prestashop).
* Source control tools such as Git.
