We're looking for an experienced Damp and Mould Maintenance Surveyor with a strong understanding of building and property maintenance with a passion to deliver exceptional and quality services to our customers, in our community.
What's the role?
Within our In-House Repairs and Maintenance team we have an opportunity for an experience Damp & Mould Maintenance Surveyor to join our team. This will be a great opportunity for you to will use your technical skills to help us ensure that potential damp mould and disrepair claims are dealt with promptly and professionally. You will deliver high-quality housing services and provide technical advice and support to the organisation to ensure excellent customer service, and value for money is at the forefront of our service offer and delivery.
In this role, you will support the effective delivery of contracted and internal maintenance services focused on damp & mould prevention and remediation services.
The right candidate will have the ability to carry out appropriate damp & mould property pre and post inspections, produce detailed specifications of work itemised from the NHF Schedule of Rates for the prevention and remediation of repairs. Whilst using composite values, and prepare estimates, plans, sketches, drawings and photos as necessary providing technical reports to support damp & mould complaints caseload, showcase actions taken to deliver satisfactory results for Watford Community Housing Trust and our customers.
What are we looking for?
Previous Damp & Mould Maintenance Surveying experience, you will hold a recognised building surveying related qualification and full membership to either RICS or CIOB. In addition, you will also hold a HHSRS qualification. You will need to have a comprehensive level of technical expertise. You'll have significant knowledge of building construction, building standards, planning regulations, regulatory standards, leasehold legislation, and other legislations relevant to asset management, along with a detailed knowledge of construction contracts and their effective administration, understanding of defects related to legislation such as. Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, the Environmental Protection act 1990. And the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018, Social Housing Regulation Act 2023.
Please note - if you do not hold a full chartered membership, we can still consider your application for this role, however, you will be considered at a lower salary point.
You'll also have a commercial understanding of value for money drivers in construction and will ensure compliance with Health & Safety policy and legislation ensuring all personal risk assessments are completed and reviewed, and that relevant action is taken to mitigate risk. You will be customer-focused, with the ability to interact empathetically with a wide variety of people, and knowledge of the housing or construction sectors would be a distinct advantage.
Essential:
* HND / HNC in Construction or Property Management or relevant experience
* HHSRS Qualification.
* Experience of contract management NHF 7.2
* Experience of working in an asset management and/or maintenance field
* You will need to hold a UK driving licence with access to a suitable vehicle and insurance cover for business use.
* You will need to maintain a satisfactory basic level DBS check
Desirable:
* BSc (Hons) in Construction or Property Management
* Member of a relevant body such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or the Chartered Institute of Building
* Knowledge of the housing sector
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel
