About the job

Litmus Sustainability is a young, energetic consultancy on a mission to help our clients make measurable, meaningful progress on climate as the world transitions to a low carbon economy. We work with clients across the UK, from small and medium sized businesses to household names and global corporations.

We’re now looking for a Data & Carbon Analyst to join our growing team.

You’ll help organisations understand what drives their carbon emissions by gathering & quality checking data, calculating emissions using databases & software, and creating reports & insights for our clients. Working closely with experienced consultants, you’ll learn our tools and methods, contribute to live client projects, and develop the skills to lead your own accounts over time.

This is a hands-on, analytical role for someone who enjoys working with numbers, knows their way around a spreadsheet, and takes pride in accuracy and rigour. Technical carbon experience is preferred but not essential, and we’ll provide comprehensive, hands-on training tailored for ambitious analytical professionals.

Key responsibilities (what you’ll be doing)

Whilst this is a technical carbon footprinting based role, we are open to applicants from other fields and are happy to provide technical training to those looking to move into a sustainability career from a data analysis background. More than anything, we are looking for someone who is details-orientated, naturally analytical, and comfortable spending much of their time working with data.

As Data & Carbon Analyst you will:

* Gather and validate operational and supply chain data from clients and suppliers.
* Build carbon footprints using recognised international standards.
* Evaluate and model datasets to pinpoint emission drivers and strategic reduction levers.
* Create clear visuals and concise reports that make complex data understandable.
* Keep project information up to date and contribute to refining our tools and methods.
* Communication to clients via email and our communication platforms in professional and friendly manner.

You’ll thrive in this role if you (what we’re looking for):

* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Enjoy working with data and take pride in precision and structure.
* Effective problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
* Have strong Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets skills and confidence using formulas and other data tools.
* Communicate clearly, in writing, visuals, and conversation, with non-technical audiences.
* Can manage your workload across multiple projects and deadlines.
* Learn fast, adapt easily, and stay curious about all things sustainability.
* Collaborate well with others and share what you learn.

Nice-to-have skills and qualifications (useful but not essential):

* Degree or training in sustainability, data analytics, finance, or related fields.
* Knowledge of carbon accounting, sustainability reporting, or life-cycle assessment.
* Basic knowledge of sustainability regulations and legislation applying to businesses in the UK.
* Experience with data visualisation software.
* Experience presenting insights to clients or stakeholders. If this is not your strong point we can look into different career pathways to make the most out of your particular set of skills.

Company values and benefits (why you’ll love working here)

As a young company we prioritise innovation, continuous improvement and being an enjoyable place to work. Our base in Stockport is just off the Underbanks, the creative heart of the town’s regeneration and dubbed “The New Berlin” - and we’re only a stone’s throw from Manchester by train or bus.

For this role we offer:

* Full-time permanent employment.
* Salary between £24,000–£30,000 (subject to experience) + company performance-related bonus.
* Green-ethical pension contribution.
* Flexible working location as a hybrid job role
* Regular team socials.
* Carbon Literacy Training & other opportunities for professional development and training.
* 28 days holiday per annum (+ bank holidays).
* A supportive, team-focused hybrid work environment.
* Cycle-to-work scheme.
* A developing benefits package that we would love you to help us build.
