About The Role
The Department of History seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in the History of Capitalism on a full‑time and indefinite basis from 1 September 2026.

About You
You will have expertise in the History of Capitalism that aligns with at least one of the University of Warwick’s interdisciplinary research spotlights. You must be able to demonstrate how your research is fresh and exciting and complements the department’s strategies. Interdisciplinary approaches that re‑configure histories of capitalism by concentrating on connections with environment, society, empire and race, human and non‑human agency, and/or power are encouraged. The post is open with respect to period and region. Preference may be given to candidates working from archival perspectives in the Global South, transnational/diaspora studies, and those employing new digital methods.
Requirements
It is envisaged that you may teach on some of the following modules, depending on your knowledge and expertise and department requirements:
* HI113 Europe in the Making
* HI153 Making of the Modern World
* HI2K9 Historical Research
In addition, you will be encouraged to propose your own modules based on your expertise and interests.
You will also be expected to supervise final‑year dissertations, contribute to MA teaching, lecture, seminar teaching, essay tutorials, office hours, marking undergraduate work and monitoring student attendance in accordance with the department’s quality assurance practices. You will act as a personal tutor to an assigned group of undergraduate students, providing pastoral support and guidance during the academic year. Engaged research in the History of Capitalism is also expected.
