Job Description
The Electroplating Technician is responsible, through the Plating Shop & Surface Finish Manager to the Operations Manager, for:
* The chemical processing of aircraft components, sub-assemblies, and parts to support maintenance across various platforms and programmes supported by the business.
* Periodic, lot testing, and solution analyses of test samples as specified in customer requirements, ASI, and applicable Detailed Process Instructions (DPIs).
Responsibilities
* Carry out chemical processing operations, including Nital Etch Inspection, in accordance with qualifications, authorizations, and current approved procedures.
* Perform periodic, lot testing, and solution analyses following authorized procedures.
* Contribute to team delivery of targets and goals.
* Comply with Tool Control Procedures as per relevant ABM procedures.
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions.
* Conduct ABC reviews.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and environmental standards.
* Undertake training and train team members to ensure maximum flexibility.
* Work to the highest level of competence and undertake additional duties to support team output.
* Maintain cleanliness of work areas by removing debris promptly.
* Mentor, train, and support apprentices and team members.
* Ensure continuation training is current, and relevant packs are read and signed.
* Adhere to Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety Management Systems (SMS), and Environmental Management Systems (EMS), along with all related business manuals.
Authorities
* Authorized to perform chemical processing operations within recorded competencies.
* Authorized to carry out periodic testing, solution analyses, and chemical processing within their competency records.
* If holding a Cat B Stamp, authorized to self-certify and certify chemical processing operations within their approval codes.
* Authorized to operate the Effluent Treatment Plant if trained and competent, in accordance with Pollution Prevention Control Authorization.
Job Requirements
Education and Training
* Essential: Trainee Plater training, Institute of Metal Finishing Chemical Process Training, knowledge of continuous process improvement tools, and non-conformance root cause analysis training.
Technical Requirements
For all tasks for which they are competent:
* Ability to interpret work order requirements, approved source information, standards, and detailed process instructions related to chemical processing.
Desirable:
* Authorized Cat B Stamp holder with relevant competencies and approval codes.
* Capability to collect and analyze performance data related to chemical processing, including reprocessing, rework, customer complaints, costs, turnaround times, waste streams, and scrap.
