Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile General Operative to join our team. This role is essential in supporting various operational tasks within our organisation, particularly in a grounds maintenance capcity. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of practical skills and a willingness to learn, contributing to the efficient running of our operations.
Duties:
* Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and safely, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
* Reporting to your supervisor and managers.
* Following Health & Safety safe systems of work and regulations at all times.
* Work in line with all WCC Group policies and procedures at all times.
* Responsible for reporting incidents and near misses to your supervisor as and when required.
* Working as part of a team, assisting others with every aspect of a project from start to finish.
* Grass cutting, strimming, pruning, shrub and vegetation clearance and control, chemical spraying.
* Operating machinery such as robo-flail, skags, strimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers and others. (Training will be provided to you prior to use).
* Planting, turfing, drainage and winter maintenance.
* Perform and record routine maintenance on equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working order.
* General labouring in other aspects of the business to meet project needs.
* Working outdoors in all weathers.
* Responsible for completing your own time sheets and submitting in a timely manner.
* Undertake any job-specific training provided to you.
* Any other reasonable managerial request.
Requirements
* Proven experience or knowledge in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture is advantageous.
* Knowledge with the ability to operate various hand tools and power tools safely.
* Experience operating machinery is a plus but not mandatory; training may be provided for the right candidate.
* Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of work.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* A proactive attitude towards learning new skills.
* Flexibility in working hours may be required depending on project demands.
Hours: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16: hours per week. Potential overtime may be available.
Holidays: 28 days per annum.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £12.60-£15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
