Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist – Band 7
Location: Woodside Building, Moorgate Road, Rotherham, S60 2TY, United Kingdom.
Salary: £49,387 to £56,515 per annum, pro rata.
Contract: Permanent, full‑time with a 33.18‑hour working week (part‑time, flexible).
Job Summary
As a Band 7 Clinical Specialist within the Locality Therapy Team you will deliver high‑quality, complex patient care, develop leadership skills, and shape service delivery. The role balances clinical autonomy, team leadership, and service improvement across the health and social care system.
Job Responsibilities
* Act as a clinical expert and advisor, supporting decision‑making for complex cases and specialist interventions.
* Lead on equipment provision and specialist interventions.
* Manage a complex caseload, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
* Provide day‑to‑day supervision, formal appraisal, and mentoring of staff, support workers, and students.
* Contribute to service improvement, audits, research, and evidence‑based practice.
* Collaborate closely with GPs, consultants, nurses, social care, and third‑sector partners for coordinated, patient‑centred care.
* Adapt working hours to meet service needs, including weekends and bank holidays as required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent; postgraduate qualifications to Masters level; UK professional registration (HCPC).
* Evidence of leadership experience and CPD; ability to travel independently and access a suitable vehicle for patient visits.
* Proficiency in standardised assessments, outcome measure development, equipment assessment and fitting, and national guidance (NICE, NSF, information governance, equality and diversity).
* Demonstrated experience in clinical audit, continuous improvement, and health & safety compliance.
* Experience of user/carer participation, staff supervision, and performance management systems.
* Desirable: Membership of a professional body; management or leadership qualification; completed IT course (e.g. ECDL, ELC).
* Recruitment and selection experience; resource management; leading service developments and multi‑professional teams.
* Experience of respiratory on‑call rota (physiotherapy only where applicable).
