About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Health Advisor to join our team, based at our Canary Wharf office in London.

You’ll be part of a supportive and forward‑thinking Health team, playing a key role in delivering an integrated approach to health across the business. Working closely with colleagues across Balfour Beatty, you’ll provide expert advice and guidance on occupational health and hygiene, helping to protect wellbeing and support safe, healthy working environments.


What you’ll be doing

* Support the delivery of Zero Harm and the health and wellbeing strategy for the UK.
* Support the implementation of occupational health, hygiene, and wellbeing initiatives.
* Contribute to the work of the Fatal Risks Group and other health related forums to ensure best practice is consistently developed across the business.
* Assist in the drafting and reviewing of new processes to ensure compliance with appropriate legislation.
* Have involvement with the central occupational health administration team.
* Create and support up to date training or presentations on health and wellbeing to ensure health risks are recognised and properly managed.
* Support delivery of a full and proactive Health and wellbeing service throughout the UK business.
* Support all internal and external audit requirements.
* Support the health team to ensure sound hygiene principles are being used effectively within the business.
* Promote healthier lifestyles by contributing to health-related campaigns and promotional materials by supporting engagement activity roll outs.
* Plan and do appropriate site visits in conjunction with the project H&S leads to ensure projects are keeping in line with health and hygiene matters.
* Manage all health-related SharePoint material and page creation.
* Maintain data integrity and medical confidentiality in line with The Data Protection Act.
* Collaborating with other health and safety professionals, and occupational health and hygiene specialists across the industry to help further consolidate the better management of health issues in construction.
* Support the Head of Health as and when required.


Who we’re looking for

* NEBOSH Health and Safety certificate (or equivalent).
* Further training would be an advantage but not essential (BOHS hygiene modules, occupational health management, wellbeing specific qualifications).
* Passionate about health and the delivery of positive health-related outcomes for our people.
* Understanding the basic principles of health risk management.
* Ability to work within a team and with different specialisms to deliver an integrated health approach.
* Competent author of procedures/process mapping and skilled in use of appropriate IT packages (MS office- Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Strong communicator at all levels, both in terms of written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
* Keen attention to detail and quality.
* Collaborative, reliable, proactive and able to meet demanding deadlines.
* Eligibility to work and live in the UK at the time of joining.
* Flexibility and ability to travel as required.
* Occupational health, hygiene, or wellbeing knowledge an advantage.
* Knowledge/experience of working in the construction/infrastructure sector, would be a bonus.
