Location: Thurso (Home-based with occasional site visits to Dounreay)
Security Clearance Required: SC & Sole UK National
As Assystem Defence continues to grow, we’re on the lookout for a dynamic and self-motivated Senior Project Planner to support one of our key Defence clients.
You’ll be embedded within the client’s PMO team, acting as the go-to expert for all things planning. This is a home-based role with occasional travel to the client site at Dounreay.
Your Mission:
️ Project Schedule Management – Develop, monitor, and control schedules to ensure timely milestone and deliverable completion, in collaboration with Project Managers.
Project Planning Leadership – Lead schedule development both internally and externally with clients.
Work Package Coordination – Track progress, allocate resources, and manage subcontractor activities.
✅ Subcontractor Programme Approval – Review for quality and consistency with project timelines.
Stakeholder Communication – Provide regular updates on progress, risks, changes, and opportunities.

Qualifications
Candidate Profile (Skills & Experience):
Planning Expertise – Skilled in building and maintaining high-quality schedules
Collaborative Communicator – Experienced in working with Project Leads and stakeholders
P6 Proficiency – Confident using Primavera P6 (or similar tools) to sequence and allocate resources
⚛️ Industry Background – Experience in the Nuclear or Defence sectors is a big plus
Tech-Savvy – Especially in MS Office (Excel & MS Project)
Detail-Oriented – Analytical, accurate, and self-driven
️ Clear Communicator – Capable of distilling complex data into concise updates
Programme Assessor – Able to validate subcontractor inputs for accuracy
Qualifications:
Degree (preferred) or equivalent experience
Primavera P6 training (desirable)
Project Management certification (e.g. APM) is a bonus
