The role This is an excellent opportunity to join the Mid Wales Land Management Team as a Commercial Liaison Officer, acting as the main point of contact for site-based activities within commercial projects on the Welsh Government Woodland Estate. Projects range from major developments like the Cefn Croes Windfarm to smaller initiatives across Mid Wales such as hydro installations, visitor centres, and access agreements. Acting as Natural Resources Wales’ (NRW) direct liaison with commercial stakeholders, you will provide guidance to Land and Asset teams on planned works and permissions. Interpreting lease agreements and method statements will be key to ensuring activities meet contractual and safety standards, alongside leading the development and review of risk assessments. The role demands strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and maintain productive partnerships throughout the contract lifecycle. You’ll also support wider land management tasks, including site inspections, tree safety, fencing, and contractor oversight. We’re looking for someone proactive, well-organised, and collaborative, with the confidence to work independently and the initiative to drive progress across a varied portfolio. As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to an NRW office within Mid Wales and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance. Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date. What you will do Act as the point of contact for the planning of all site-based activities and operations within the defined area of the commercial projects for both NRW and Commercial developers. Manage, implement and promote relevant terms of the commercial lease/contract agreements and maintain, review and enforce delivery of applicable Principal Method Statements/Safe Systems of Work. Ensure development, adoption and review of NRW and Commercial Developer risk assessments and method statements for safe working within a defined area to commercial projects. Participate in NRW technical/strategic groups or represent NRW on external forums. Interact with peers in NRW to promote consistent industry and specialist subject best practice. Escalate disputes, risks and issues (that remain unresolved at site based level). Identify Stakeholders, and cultivate effective and cooperative working relationships (contact database). Develop and manage a communication plan with each developer to ensure an effective level of information. Have responsibility for direct delivery of delegated programmes within agreed budgetary control, ensuring relevant compliance and adherence to procurement procedures, health and safety legislation and industry best practice. Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method. Experience of working across a wide range of land management disciplines. Excellent communication/negotiation skills. Experience of managing relationships with stakeholders/partners. Experience of commercial developments. Experience of contract management.
