Senior Counsellor and Wellbeing Worker – Step Forward
Location: Tower Hamlets, England, United Kingdom. Age group served: 11–25 years.
Step Forward is seeking a Senior Counsellor and Wellbeing Worker to provide high quality therapeutic support to young people and clinical supervision to honorary counsellors. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people aged 11–25 years and combine direct therapeutic work with leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high quality and confidential 1:1 counselling and wellbeing support in a range of settings.
* Deliver clinical supervision to Step Forward honorary counsellors/therapists.
* Facilitate small group sessions and wellbeing workshops.
* Support engagement with young people who are less likely to access traditional mental health services.
* Lead and/or contribute to service improvement initiatives.
* Monitor and evidence the impact of therapeutic interventions.
* Build and sustain partnerships with external agencies (e.g. CAMHS, schools).
About You
* Recognised qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy (accredited or working towards).
* Supervision qualification and experience providing clinical supervision to practitioners.
* Extensive experience delivering evidence-based short, medium, and long-term therapy.
* Experience supporting young people with a wide range of presenting issues (e.g. anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, abuse, identity and relationships).
* Minimum 2 years’ counselling experience with young people aged 11–25.
* Experience working in school and multi‑agency environments.
* Commitment to holistic, young people centred care.
* Strong safeguarding expertise, including managing complex cases and multi‑agency working.
* Leadership and/or mentoring skills to support colleague’s professional development.
