About Tracer
Many scientists struggle to debug broken bioinformatics pipelines they use for research, slowing down the velocity of new scientific breakthroughs like drug development, that could help millions of people. To fix this, we're building an advanced observability platform for high‑performance computing. Backed by $3M in funding from top investors and located in the heart of London, we're assembling a founding team to accelerate. Ready to make an impact?
About The Role
As our first Sales Engineer, you'll be the technical bridge between our product and our customers. You'll shape how we position Tracer in the market, run hands-on demos, and ensure every sales conversation is backed by technical depth and clear business value. You'll operate at the intersection of product, sales, and engineering, owning everything from translating technical features into benefits to refining our demos and building the assets that turn prospects into customers. Ideal for a technically fluent communicator who thrives in customer-facing roles.
Key Responsibilities
* Own positioning, messaging, and sales assets for all key features and launches
* Shadow calls, identify friction, and drive iterative improvement to decks, docs, and demos
* Build a repeatable narrative engine: value props, objection handling, one-pagers, battlecards
* Translate technical capabilities into crisp benefits across ICPs
* Coordinate with design, growth, and founders to drive demand and conversion
* Keep the feedback loop tight: turn sales conversations into insight, and insight into impact
Skills & Experience (required)
* 5+ years in sales engineering, solutions engineering, or technical pre-sales (B2B SaaS preferred)
* Strong technical background (developer tools, infrastructure, or observability ideal)
* Demonstrated ability to improve win rates through sharper demos and technical storytelling
* Exceptional communication skills: you can dive into technical detail and elevate to exec-level narrative
* London-based or willing to relocate (we believe in-person collaboration drives faster learning)
Nice-to-haves:
* Hands-on coding or engineering background (Rust, TypeScript, or cloud infrastructure a plus)
* Personal projects or writing that showcase technical storytelling
* Experience selling to FinOps, DevEx, enterprise, cybersecurity, life sciences, or related personas
Who You'll Work With
* Founders (Laura & Vincent): You'll arm them with crisp messaging to close deals faster
* VP Engineering (Michele): Your technical partner for launches and deep dives
* Product Designer (Paul): Makes the UX sing; you make it sell
* Chief of Staff (Arne) + Growth interns: Scale outbound and content volume
