Overview
Tower Hamlets Law Centre (THLC), an organisation providing free advice and representation to people who face barriers in getting access to legal services, is recruiting a Strategic Litigation Development Officer. This is a fixed-term project of 8 months duration (28 hours a week) which will explore good and bad practice in care and identify local authorities in London where there is evidence of systemic failings in the provision of Leaving Care Act duties to young refugees and asylum seekers between 18 and 21 years old. The Development Officer will conduct action research to support preparation of cases for strategic litigation.
Responsibilities
The post holder will conduct action research to support preparation of cases for strategic litigation and will identify London local authorities where there is evidence of systemic failings in the Leaving Care Act duties to young refugees and asylum seekers aged 18–21.
Location and collaboration
The post holder will be based at Tower Hamlets Law Centre and will also work with Brighter Futures, a young refugee and asylum seekers self advocacy group based at Praxis in Bethnal Green.

The Strategic Legal Fund for Refugee Children and Young People is a partnership of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, Trust for London and MigrationWork CIC to fund interventions and pre-litigation legal research for cases involving children and young people seeking asylum or who are already refugees.
