Position: Manager - Operations


Supporting the Global IT Senior Manager, Operations, The Manager - Operations role's primary responsibility is to coordinate with other GO departments predominately HR, Finance on behalf of the IT department to ensure effective delivery of IT recruitment, budget handling.

Further priorities are ensuring the effective design and implementation of an overarching governance framework as well as ensuring IT regulatory compliance and risk management.

Serving as the point of contact for (project) managers and others within BDO Global IT in providing efficient and available services.



Key accountabilities


Governance Framework Development and Implementation:

* Support the design, implementation, and management of an IT governance framework aligned with organizational objectives and industry standards (e.g., COBIT, ITIL, ISO 27001, SOC 2).
* Responsible for overseeing the review and maintenance of IT policies, processes, and standards to ensure consistent and effective IT operations.


Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:

* Ensure IT compliance with all relevant regulatory, legal, and organizational requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOX, HIPAA).
* Oversee IT risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
* Monitor and report on IT governance, compliance, and risk management metrics to senior leadership.


IT Performance Management:

* Support in the definition of, and subsequently manage the delivery of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of IT operations, services, and governance practices.
* Responsible to regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to established policies and standards.
* Manage continuous improvement initiatives to optimize IT governance processes and align them with business needs.


HR / Recruitment

* Ensure all vacancies for the Global IT team and tracked and managed through to onboarding.
* Work with the management team to keep an up-to-date repository of Position Description for the whole Global IT team
* Document approvals for new hires
* Liaise with the HR team in the Global Office on behalf of the Global IT management team


Budget / Commercial Management

* Liaise with the Finance team in the Global Office for coding of all incoming invoices
* Month-by-month tracking of actuals vs forecast for all Global IT budgets
* Work with the budget keepers in the Global IT team to maintain both forecasts and actuals for all budgets
* Work with (project) managers around the understanding of their actuals/budget
* Escalate any potential overage in the budget to the relevant stakeholders
* Assist the budget keepers during the budget setting process by providing budget proposals, justifications and pricing models.


Coaching & Mentoring

* Line management of 3 resources providing specialist support to both the Recruitment, Finance and governance domains.
* Provides technical guidance or system process expertise.
* Develops reports and presentations for senior management, as needed.



Qualifications and Experience


* Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Business, Computer Science, or Engineering
* 5-7 years of management experience. Leading and managing teams in applications, systems or IT operations in a Global context.
* Certifications in IT governance, risk management, and compliance are highly desirable (e.g., COBIT, CRISC, CISM, ITIL, ISO 27001).
* Experience of IT risk management or compliance roles are highly desirable.
* Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., GDPR, SOX, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
* Experience of implementing and management across governance frameworks desirable.
* Experience in managing financials of an IT department.
* Strong Project Management experience, along with associated industry qualifications (Prince2 or PMI).
* Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex problems or processes, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternate solutions.
* Experience working with multiple third-party vendors and partners to deliver complex information technology projects
* Demonstrated ability to balance priorities among competing needs
* Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence and drive other team members
