Summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Senior Biomedical Scientist to work in the Biochemistry Department at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. The role supports the Deputy Lead Biomedical Scientist, overseeing all aspects of the service and undertaking day‑to‑day management tasks. Based at Conquest Hospital, staff may also be required to work at the Eastbourne DGH site as needed.
Responsibilities
* Support the Deputy Lead Biomedical Scientist in managing the service and supervising team activities.
* Oversee day‑to‑day management tasks and coordinate cross‑site operations.
* Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem‑solving for Roche 8000 modular analysers (upgraded to Cobas Pro), Sebia Capillaries and Hydrasis analysers.
* Participate in the implementation of new equipment and departmental IT systems.
* Apply validation and verification processes and oversee the introduction of new or updated methods.
* Maintain quality management responsibilities, including IQC/EQA oversight.
* Provide out‑of‑hours cover in short or medium term and support a transition to 7‑day, extended‑day routine service provision.
Qualifications
* Post‑registration level experience in Biomedical Science.
* Experience in quality management and IQC/EQA.
* IBMS Specialist Portfolio (or equivalent) with demonstrated specialist biomedical scientist level (Band 6) experience.
* Strong technical knowledge of modular analysers and laboratory instrumentation.
