Bowel Cancer Screening has been provided at NCIC since 2008 as part of the Cumbria and Morecambe Bay Screening Service. We look to continue our quality service by recruiting an additional colonoscopist. You will join us at an exciting time following the opening of our new £15M, 5 room, State of the Art, JAG accredited Endoscopy Suite. We are looking for enthusiastic colleagues to expand our GI services in North Cumbria. This post, a replacement post (available due to retirement) is to support the Bowel Cancer Screening service. The successful candidate will contribute to dedicated Bowel Cancer Screening lists and may take on a leadership role within Bowel Cancer Screening and endoscopy services in general. A second general gastroenterology post is funded to join the current team. The post holder will be required to support the GI bleeding rota.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide dedicated colonoscopic screening lists and, together with gastroenterology colleagues, will contribute to inpatient and outpatient care. They will also participate in the consultant‑of‑the‑week rotation to cover GI inpatient work and contribute to the GI bleed rota. Support may also be required at other sites within the Trust.
Teaching is a priority. The candidate will lead endoscopy training locally and contribute to the Northern Endoscopy Training Academy. They will be involved in recruitment, supervision, and appraisal of junior staff and support continuous professional development.
