This role will be to support the progression of Phoenix Energy’s ‘Pathway to Net-Zero’ through the delivery of renewable gas (biomethane, green hydrogen) related projects, energy efficiency interventions and heat decarbonisation workstreams in collaboration with partner organisations.


Responsibilities

* Support the delivery of Phoenix Energy’s renewable energy workstreams including biomethane, green hydrogen, energy efficiency and hybrid heat pump related projects.
* This will include developing the initial research base for each workstream and then supporting the planning, implementation and amplification of the results to industry, policy and other targeted stakeholder audiences.
* Regularly engage with industrial and commercial users through a range of shared platforms and targeted initiatives to ensure they are sufficiently aware of renewable gas developments and other decarbonisation opportunities to make informed decision.
* This includes working closely with potential funding partners to support industrial and commercial users identify near term opportunities to advance their decarbonisation/sustainability pathway.
* Ensure that the decarbonisation needs of industrial and commercial users are factored into Phoenix’s energy transition workstreams, regulatory price control submissions and policy frameworks.
* Identify opportunities for, and successfully deliver, Phoenix-led renewable energy, energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation trials and demonstration projects with likeminded partners.
* This will include the progression of commercial hybrid heating system trials.
* Monitor the outcome of external heat decarbonisation trials and demonstration projects in Northern Ireland, Ireland, the UK and across Europe to develop insights that empower the business to act decisively in a rapidly changing industry.
* And support the development of well-evidenced responses to government policy consultations.
* Provide regular internal decarbonisation updates to senior management impact analysis of new government policy, market trend analysis, results of internal analysis, results of ongoing decarbonisation trials etc.
* Regular participation in multidisciplinary collaborative forums, featuring internal and external partners to progress the successful delivery of renewable energy workstreams including joint academic/industry research projects.
* Contribute to the commercial decision making: for example, supporting new renewable energy business development concepts, performing market research to support proposal development.
* Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Phoenix’s corporate objectives.
* Observe and comply with policies and procedures for Health and Safety at Work and observe and continually promote equal opportunities and customer care in compliance with organisational aims and objectives.
* Participate in learning and development activities that develop personal effectiveness and assist in improving performance in the role.
* Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with the level of responsibility of the post and in order to meet the changing needs of the organisation.

Skills and Qualifications

* Educated to degree level or a relevant vocational qualification.
* A minimum of 1 years’ experience working in either a project management/consultancy environment or a renewable energy environment or a government policy/public affairs environment.
* Experience of delivering succinct, structured, high quality oral and written briefings to external and internal stakeholders.
* Ability to work under own initiative.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Good analytical skills.
* Creative individual with ability to generate original ideas and deliver change.
* Methodical thinker with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
* Experience of collaborating on joint projects with external partner organisations.
* Experience of engaging with large industrial, commercial and public sector organisations.
* Experience of managing multiple projects and delivering against time bound project objectives.
