NHS 111 Health Advisor Part Time – Bicester
Job Summary
Enter a fast‑paced, dynamic NHS 111 service where each call brings a new challenge and the opportunity to make a real difference. This part‑time role is based at our Bicester office and involves handling a wide variety of calls, supporting people in distress, and working within a professional and supportive team.
Responsibilities
* Support someone experiencing a mental health crisis
* Reassure a parent whose child has had a minor head injury
* Assist someone with a sore throat or toothache
* Respond calmly and effectively to someone having a stroke or heart attack
* Take and triage calls using NHS Pathways, noting patient details and needs
* Record accurately all information entered into the telephone system and call recordings
* Adhere to strict quality and service standards and uphold the NHS quality framework
* Collaborate with local services and the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) as required to manage complex cases
Work within a closed shift rota, assist in management of shift hand‑overs and be available for rotating work patterns
Qualifications and Training
Essential
* Good all‑round education (e.g. 2 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English) or equivalent demonstrable experience in a similar role
* Experience in a customer/patient services environment dealing with the public
* Experience of using a computerised system
* Experience of using a telephone as a regular means of communication in a work environment
* Over 18 years of age
Desirable
* NHS Pathways Trained
* NVQ 2/3 Customer Services or equivalent demonstrable experience
* Experience in a call centre environment
* Knowledge of the operational area
* Experience of working rotating shifts
* Previous experience of patient care, voluntary or health sector work
* Knowledge of first aid and/or anatomy

* Experience of rotating shifts and working within a team structure
* Knowledge of first aid, anatomy and local health services is an asset
