Job overview

The post holder will join a dedicated 6-member Gyn oncology fellow team to provide middle-grade clinical cover for inpatient care for patients in the ward or High Dependency Unit / Intensive Therapy Unit and also take part in outpatient clinics (joint oncology, colposcopy and pre-operative), Gynaecology MDT Clinics, Vulval, Colposcopy clinics, Gynaecological oncology theatres. They are also required to take part in the Gyn Oncology middle grade on-call rota (not during normal working hours, non-resident cover, 1 in 6) with an occasional requirement (based on career stage) to cover the general gynaecology on-call rota. The department has hosted Research fellows, including OOPR and OPPE, pursuing Masters in Gyn Oncology (MCh Gyn Oncology) and MD (self-funded registration).

The post duration will be for a minimum of 1 year and extendable to 2 or 3 years, depending on the training or research requirements.

Main duties of the job

Provide middle-grade clinical cover for inpatient care in ward/HDU/ITU
Take part in outpatient clinics, Gynaecologic oncology MDT
Contribute to work in Gynaecologic oncology theatres
Take part in the Gynaecology Oncology middle-grade on-call rota

Based on the original site of South Cleveland Hospital, all acute and elective medical and surgical specialties are accommodated. Tertiary services, in addition to cardiology and cardiac surgery, include renal medicine/haemodialysis, neurosurgery, vascular surgery and the regional spinal injuries unit.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Essential criteria

1. Confidence in gynaecological surgical skills evidenced by ATSM/SITM
2. Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of clinical knowledge and the enthusiasm to promote evidence-based practice
3. Demonstrate evidence of being able to Manage time and prioritise clinical need

Desirable criteria

4. Demonstrable evidence of laparoscopy skills

Qualifications

Essential criteria

5. Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
6. Primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC
7. Part 3 MRCOG completed
8. Oncology experience

Desirable criteria

9. Postgraduate degree
10. Evidence of distinction at university or postgraduate examinations
11. Certification of previous robotic training

Experience

Essential criteria

12. Evidence of 7 years clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
13. Evidence of involvement in an audit project, a quality improvement project or research project
