Head of Science – Secondary School Leadership Opportunity Location: Enfield, North London Start Date: January 2026 (or September 2025 for the right candidate) Salary: MPS/UPS TLR 1b (£11,408) – Outer London weighting applied Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent An ambitious and high-performing secondary school in Enfield is seeking to appoint an experienced and visionary Head of Science to lead their well-established department. This is a full-time, permanent role, starting January 2026, though an earlier start may be available for the right candidate. The incoming Head of Science will be responsible for leading curriculum development, raising standards of teaching and learning, and continuing to drive outstanding outcomes across KS3, GCSE, and A-Level. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the Science department, including line management of subject staff. Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and quality assurance across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise attainment across all key stages. Develop innovative teaching and learning approaches to engage all learners, including those with SEND and EAL. Contribute to whole-school strategic development through collaboration with SLT. The successful candidate will: Be an experienced Science teacher with a track record of strong student outcomes. Have prior experience in a leadership role, ideally as 2iC, Key Stage Lead or Subject Coordinator. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
