Purpose of the role
Apprenticeship in Material Processing Plant Operations (mobile or static) while gaining hands-on experience in safely operating machinery, supporting site maintenance, and contributing to a safe working environment in line with Heidelberg Materials' training programme and site requirements.
Key accountabilities
Operation and Monitoring
* Operate mobile and static plant machinery safely and efficiently to process materials and produce finished products.
* Set controls, monitor gauges and instruments, and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal production and minimise downtime.
* Ensure correct set up of machine adjusting mirror and seat as required.
* Operate all plant in the most economical and environmentally responsible manner.
Maintenance and Equipment Care
* Maintain mobile and static equipment in good working order through regular refuelling, greasing, and cleaning.
* Complete daily inspection sheets for plant condition and report any issues or defects via the Check Proof system.
* For fixed plant machinery take responsibility for ensuring all servicing needs are met and any faults are promptly reported to the maintenance team.
* Undertake greasing fueling of machinery as required.
Quality Control
* Monitor production output to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Communication and Teamwork
* Work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and site management to ensure smooth operations.
* Participate in shift handovers and communicate equipment or operational issues clearly and effectively.
6. Record Keeping and Reporting
* Accurately record data related to equipment inspections, production, maintenance, and quality control.
* Ensure timely and clear reporting of any equipment faults, safety concerns, or production issues.
* Complete near miss and hazard reports as required and actively contribute to a culture of safety awareness.
* Participate in risk assessments
Education/Qualification
* Full driving licence
* Good general education required as a large amount of health and safety regulations and Quarry Regulations are required to be understood and carried out.
* Applications will be considered from those who have or are likely to obtain GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or Grade 4 and above.
