Responsibilities
* In accordance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in other Pharmacy Department duties in line with Company policies and procedures.
* Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assists with and coaches pharmacy technicians in operating pharmacy systems and cashiers in operating the pharmacy cash registers.
* Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
* Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
* Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
* Develops strong relationships with valuable customers.
Operations
* Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, following state, federal, and company policy. Adheres to the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
* Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying accuracy, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and workflow management.
* Reports prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adheres to company policies regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
* Adheres to Good Faith Dispensing policies during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
* Registers related sales on the assigned cash register, handles cash as required, and assists customers to locate products.
* Handles routine telephone calls to physicians and other parties as needed.
* Processes manual claims for third-party prescription services and performs other clerical duties as assigned.
* Assists with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals; maintains asset protection practices and files claims for discrepancies.
* Supports clinical services as required and coordinates with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
* Assists with building relationships with local medical communities and supports growth opportunities through outreach.
* Maintains a stocked, clean, and orderly Pharmacy Department.
* Follows all company policies and procedures and maintains respectful coworker relationships.
* Completes special assignments and other tasks as needed.
Training & Personal Development
* Earns and maintains PTCB certification through designated training or state requirements; certification may be required for promotion to senior technician.
* Attends training requested by Manager and pursues continuing education to stay current in healthcare and pharmacy knowledge.
Qualifications
* Basic Qualifications: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
* Preferred Qualifications: Six months of experience in a retail environment; prior Walgreens experience; good math and computer skills; knowledge of store inventory control; PTCB certification is preferred.
