Fancy joining our team? We're Salt of the Earth — a family-run, award-winning natural deodorant brand that genuinely cares about people and the planet. Small, kind, hands-on, and proud makers of COSMOS Natural, vegan deodorants right here in Hampshire.
What you'll be doing (full training provided)
* Make lab batches for new and existing formulations — weighing, mixing, safe handling, tidy records.
* Run routine quality checks on raw materials, in-process and finished goods: pH, viscosity, appearance, stability observations; support sample dispatch to external labs and keep audit trails spotless.
* Keep the lab humming — equipment checks/calibration, consumables, H&S and simple SOPs that help a small team move fast.
Must-haves (please only apply if you tick these)
* GCSEs (or equivalent): Maths, English and Chemistry at Grade C/4–5 or above.
* Right to work in the UK and happy to be office/lab-based in Chandlers Ford.
* Comfortable with accurate measurement, tidy documentation and using spreadsheets.
* Happy on your feet for parts of the day and able to follow H&S and hygiene rules.
Useful experience (nice to have, not essential)
* 6–12 months in a manufacturing, QC or lab environment (cosmetics, food, pharma or similar).
* Hands-on with pH meters, viscometers, balances and sample handling.
* Familiar with SOPs/GMP/COSHH basics and collaborating with Production/QA.
The kind of person who'll thrive here
* A careful do-er with a calm, methodical streak — you enjoy repeating a test until it's right.
* Someone with sharp attention to detail who spots the little things that others might miss.
* A team "mucker-in": you'll pitch in wherever needed and share what you learn.
* Curious, into sustainability, and drawn to brands that do the right thing.
* A self-starter who's willing to learn and not afraid to use their initiative.
What's in it for you
* Real Living Wage employer, 29 days holiday incl. bank hols, pension, proper coffee, generous staff discount.
* Work with a B Corp-certified, family business where your work shows up on shelves across the UK.
* Small-team energy: you'll see the impact of your ideas quickly.
