We’re seeking an exceptional, results‑driven Director of Sales to shape and lead our Sales and M&E strategy — driving revenue growth, market share, and brand presence across our key segments:
* Meetings & Events
* Corporate Groups & Corporate Transient
This is a senior commercial leadership opportunity for a dynamic sales professional with a powerful network, strong industry reputation, and a proven ability to deliver results at the highest level.
As Director of Sales, you’ll set the strategic vision for our Sales and M&E teams — inspiring and empowering them to achieve excellence through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to success. You’ll play a pivotal role in positioning The Grand, York as the destination of choice within both the York and UK City Centre luxury hotel markets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide strategic leadership across Sales and M&E, aligning goals to maximise performance and revenue.
* Leverage an extensive network across Luxury Leisure Consortia, Incentive, M&E, and Corporate segments domestically and internationally.
* Lead on‑property sales teams, driving new business opportunities and growing market share with existing clients.
* Develop and execute competitive strategies to win business from competitors.
* Ensure seamless integration of proactive sales and M&E activities, fostering collaboration across teams.
* Partner with preferred global and regional teams to capture new business opportunities from key accounts.
* Act as a Splendid Hospitality Group ambassador, cross‑selling the portfolio.
* Represent SHG and The Grand York at domestic and international tradeshows, sales missions, and events.
* Provide oversight to ensure teams meet pipeline objectives and fully adopt Salesforce for transparent, data‑driven performance.
* Monitor industry trends and competitor activity.
* Collaborate with senior SHG leadership to drive commercial initiatives.
* Ensure rigorous ROI tracking and accurate reporting for all sales and event‑related investments.
About You:
* You will have extensive experience in luxury or city‑centre hotel sales and M&E.
* Strong leadership and commercial acumen, with a track record of driving revenue growth.
* Skilled networker with experience across UK and international markets.
* A collaborative, strategic thinker able to inspire high‑performing teams.
