This is a new post to support the regional paediatric Gastroenterology service based at Southampton General Hospital.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Training & Experience
Essential criteria:
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* GMC registration with a licence to practise
* Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
* Hold a CCT (or equivalent for overseas service) in Paediatrics or be within six months of CCT date or have undertaken comparable paediatric gastroenterology training
* Experience in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Nutrition, Paediatric Endoscopy
Desirable criteria:
* On specialist register for paediatrics and have recognition on the specialist register in Paediatric gastroenterology
* Completion or evidence of working towards a higher academic degree (MD/PhD).
* Familiarity with working in networks
* Previous research experience
Aptitudes and skills
Essential criteria:
* Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams
* Understanding of equality and diversity and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
* Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English).
* Commitment to CPD supporting undergraduate learning
* Awareness of the requirements of clinical governance, with particular reference to paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition
* Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national forums
Desirable criteria:
* Formal training in clinical governance
* Ability to develop collaborative working, and peer education
* Ability to prosecute own research ideas
* Ability to develop research collaborations
