What you'll be doing
The Network Optimisation Manager is responsible for the strategic planning of the Boots Opticians Property program for New Store Openings, Acquisitions, Refits and Refreshes. They will support the investment plan, work closely with delivery teams, and ensure clear visibility of progress across every project in the portfolio.
Key responsibilities
* Working with location planning teams to ensure the 5‑year property plan remains up to date and accurate.
* Supporting the Head of Property in budget processing, planning and maintenance alongside the finance team.
* Using planning tools and techniques to shape the programme so it lands well and supports strategic goals.
* Maintaining strong governance and following best practice with the Boots UK programme office.
* Setting up and maintaining programme documentation using the hosted collaboration database and Excel.
* Tracking and reporting progress, keeping RAID, change and action logs up to date and escalating issues when needed.
* Supporting the Finance team in creating investment papers for capital works.
* Ensuring the maintenance escalation process is supported, delivering best service for retail teams.
* Supporting key documentation for senior presentations linking to the property programme.
* Encouraging collaboration across all delivery teams.
* Influencing and guiding others to achieve shared objectives.
* Managing workload and delivering at pace within a team‑focused environment.
What you'll need to have (our must‑haves)
* Experience in programme or project management with a desire to grow into a leadership role.
* Hands‑on experience managing programmes or projects.
* Clear, confident communication and the ability to set expectations across cross‑functional teams.
* A diligent, organised approach and familiarity with programme management tools and disciplines.
* Solid IT skills – SharePoint, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and Word (advanced formulas and macros). Power BI awareness is an advantage.
* Programme management qualifications (APM or MSP) helpful but not essential.
