Job description About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and facilities to minimize downtime and support production goals. Maintenance Duties and Skills: Good all-round knowledge of mechanical engineering principles Knowledge of friction drop hammers and hot press work Knowledge of gas and oil-fired furnaces Trained in the safe lighting procedures of gas furnaces Rebuild and repair of furnace brickwork Basic electrical knowledge and understanding Welding and fabrication design and manufacture React to production breakdowns, fault-find, and repair Pneumatic installations understanding and valve servicing Pipework installations (M/I copper and nylon) Hydraulic installations, servicing, and understanding Machine refurbishment: strip down, rebuild, and reinstall General building and carpentry skills Ability to work at height General machining skills: drilling, turning, milling, etc. Forklift truck operative Able to carry out P.P.M. checks and reports Fire Marshal General Daily Duties: Carry out any furnace repairs needed before light-up Light all furnaces that are planned to be in production and monitor temperature Perform safety checks on forging plant to be used, repair if required, and report any issues Check and start up compressors, drain excess water Check operation of forklift trucks and report any issues Grease and lubricate machinery as per the scheduled maintenance plan React to breakdowns throughout the day and maintain the safety of operatives Continuously monitor production plant for signs of potential failure and safety issues Carry out inspection and repair of plant as instructed Work on projects for improvement as instructed by management or engineering team Operate furnaces and clip when required in the forge Check parameters of site fencing for possible break-ins or security issues Requirements: Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer or similar role Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and industrial systems Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Temp to perm Pay: From £12.21 per hour Expected hours: 36 per week Benefits: Canteen Company pension On-site parking Schedule: Day shift Monday to Friday
