Mechanical Design Engineer
Tamworth, Staffordshire
£40,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Full-time hours: 8.30am – 4.30pm (Mon – Thurs) & 8.30am – 2.30pm (Fri)

Role Briefing:
A well-established and dynamic engineering and manufacturing company, located in Tamworth, currently requires a skilled Designer to join a small but dedicated Design Department.
Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer include:
· Designing and developing bespoke mechanical and hydraulic products, including gauges and testers, primarily used in the construction sector.
· Producing detailed 3D drawings/models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks CAD software package.
· Collaborating closely with both internal departments and external personnel as necessary to deliver integrated technical solutions.
· Participating in relevant testing and prototyping activities, ensuring the continuous improvement of existing designs.
· Supporting projects from concept through to manufacture, ensuring all designs meet quality, performance, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
· A Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is essential.
· 5 – 10 years of relevant experience would be highly advantageous.
· Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks or a similar package) is required.
· Knowledge of machining, assembly, mechanical manufacturing methods, and quality processes would be beneficial.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· A genuine passion for design and product development.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Organised approach to tasks and the ability to prioritise workloads.
· Capability to offer technical and practical advice to other key personnel within the business to ensure processes and products are completed effectively.
Desirable but not essential skills / experience includes:
* A good understanding of hydraulics, electronics, and mechanical principles.
* Previous exposure to, or experience in, designing parts for or entire testing equipment, gauges, products, etc.
