Senior Test Technician - Optical Components

The Role
The client are seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Technician to join the team. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our optical components used in fibre-optic systems. The position involves testing, analysis, and troubleshooting of optical components to meet required specifications and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Testing and Measurement
1. Perform detailed testing of optical components (lasers, photodiodes, modulators, optical amplifiers) using advanced equipment
2. Conduct fibre-optic testing including insertion loss and polarisation mode dispersion
3. Utilize precision instruments to measure optical parameters
Data Analysis & Reporting
4. Analyse test data to identify trends, inconsistencies, and potential issues
5. Compile comprehensive test reports and present findings
6. Provide recommendations for process improvements
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
7. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to optical component performance
8. Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues and optimize product designs
Required Qualifications and Skills
9. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
10. Proficiency with optical testing equipment (OTDRs, optical spectrum analysers, power meters)
11. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
12. Strong problem-solving abilities
13. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
14. Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
15. Experience with data analysis software and report generation
Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential)
16. Certification in fibre-optic testing (eg, FOA CFOT)
17. Familiarity with industry standards (ITU-T, IEEE, Telcordia)
18. Experience with automated testing systems
19. Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality control principles
