Overview
Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to work at The Community Investigation Hub at Martock Surgery in Martock, Somerset. You will have significant experience of working in primary care and be competent in all healthcare assistant duties. Ideal applicants will have a genuine passion for patient care, the ability to communicate effectively, and sound organisational skills to manage time and workload while delivering timely patient care.
We have a permanent, full-time vacancy of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The rate of pay is £12.65 to £12.95 per hour, starting salary based on previous experience/qualifications.
We are Symphony Healthcare Services Limited, supporting 16 practices across Somerset and serving over 100,000 patients. We centralise HR, finance and strategy while practices operate autonomously within the NHS framework.

Responsibilities
* New patient health checks including BMI
* Urinalysis
* ECG recording
* INR monitoring using Coagucheck and INR Star
* Undertake Doppler testing
* Blood pressure monitoring and issuing HBPM per policy
* Phlebotomy including annual tests and data collection for chronic diseases
* Urinalysis MSU, ACR per policy
* Wound care and suture removal (after training)
* Weight management and lifestyle advice
* Chaperoning duties
* Processing and management of laboratory samples
* Administer influenza vaccines and B12 injections after training
* Spirometry administration for GP interpretation
* Surgical equipment and vaccine stock management
* Clear and restock consulting rooms
* Assist in patient health assessments and wellbeing surveillance
* Promote health and wellbeing and raise awareness
* Data collection on health needs and assist recall systems
* Provide lifestyle advice and referrals within PHCT and local services
* Maintain waiting room health promotion information
Qualifications
Essential
* English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
* NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
Desirable
* Care Certificate
* Specific HCA qualification
Skills
Essential
* Accurate documentation of consultations in patient records
* Excellent communication and ability to apply practice policies
* Audit skills and ability to work with other agencies
* Respect for patient rights, privacy and confidentiality

* Experience using EMIS web
* Experience participating in research projects

* Significant HCA/Technician experience
* Ability to perform clinical, technical, or administrative duties per established procedures
* Experience in Primary Care/NHS setting
* ECG recording experience including 24-hour monitoring
