Deafway is looking for a driven and compassionate Community Engagement Officer to help us build stronger, more inclusive connections with the Deaf community across Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre, and Lancaster. Salary Grade: £27,000 - £30,000.
Hours per week: Monday - Friday 36.25 hours per week. This role may also include some evening/weekend work.
Holidays: 5.6 weeks including Bank/Public Holidays.
Length of post: Permanent (subject to initial 6-month probationary period).
Essential Requirements:
* Deaf person or hearing person with minimum BSL Level 3 certification.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends.

Key Responsibilities:
* To develop strong links with the local Deaf community, arrange information sharing events and create opportunities for them to get together and receive support.
* To consult with the Deaf community on a range of issues and carry out surveys etc.
* To promote Deaf Awareness and BSL courses provided by Deafway to the public and a range of external organisations.
* To represent Deafway at a variety of meetings arranged by the public sector to discuss equality and access issues and represent the needs of the Deaf community.
* To organise fund raising events and conferences linking with the Deaf community
* Identify opportunities for Deafway to support campaigns organised by other organisations, to improve the quality of life or service provision for the Deaf community.
* To identify opportunities to work in collaboration with other local organisations which will benefit the Deaf community and increase deaf awareness.
* To undertake personal training and development as required under relevant legislation, regulatory bodies, and/or by the Chief Executive.
* To observe all necessary legislation involved in this position, including the Deafway Health & Safety Policy and Fire Procedures and updated practices and procedures as they become necessary.
* To undertake any other tasks, as requested by the CEO to the benefit of Deafway.
