The vacancy
We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Curriculum Leader – Engineering to join our Further Education leadership team at Doncaster College. This is a key role with responsibility for leading and developing a high‑quality engineering curriculum that meets the needs of learners, employers and the wider regional economy.
You will provide strategic and operational leadership across a range of engineering disciplines, ensuring outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, strong learner outcomes and effective employer engagement. Working closely with industry partners and internal stakeholders, you will drive innovation, quality improvement and continuous review of the curriculum offer.
Essential criteria
1. Level 3 qualification in an engineering specialism (e.g. mechanical, electrical, motor vehicle, electrical installation, fabrication and welding)
2. Level 2 English and Maths
3. Level 5 teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards
4. Proven experience of leading and managing teams and performance
5. Strong understanding of quality assurance and current Further Education priorities
Key responsibilities
6. Lead and manage Further Education engineering programmes to ensure high retention, achievement and progression
7. Develop innovative and responsive delivery models aligned to local, regional and national skills needs
8. Work closely with employers and industry partners to shape curriculum content and learner work experience
9. Recruit, lead and develop a skilled team of lecturers and associates, promoting high standards and continuous improvement
10. Ensure compliance with Ofsted, awarding body and funding requirements, including contribution to self‑assessment and quality improvement planning
11. Manage departmental resources and budgets effectively, ensuring value for money
12. Contribute to wider college business planning and cross‑college collaboration

Let’s Teach The LET’s teach programme supports new members of teaching staff in terms of college systems and key teaching and learning areas including new staff lesson visits and postcard peeps. Each new member of staff has an allocated Lead Practitioner who works closely with them throughout the programme.
Let’s Bloom
The LET’s Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one year programme, working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team, capturing their experimentation in a journal.
