This is an opportunity for an experienced Solution Architect to lead a greenfield digital programme at the very cutting edge of technology. The successful candidate will bring strong stakeholder leadership skills alongside a deep software engineering and government background, enabling them to validate the technical feasibility of proposed solutions.
Responsibilities
* Define and drive the overall solution and technical direction, leveraging modern tools, platforms, and frameworks
* Provide technical leadership and oversight to delivery teams operating in an agile environment
* Continuously refine technical designs using feedback throughout the full project lifecycle
* Develop and own the technical strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives
* Proactively identify architectural risks and weaknesses, and lead the development of effective mitigations
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders
* Establish and enforce architectural governance, standards, and assurance processes
Required Experience
* Proven experience leading the design and delivery of bespoke digital solutions and platform services
* Strong understanding of DevOps practices, microservices architectures, and CI/CD pipelines
* Experience designing and implementing design systems, ideally within a military or defence context
* Demonstrated delivery of digital services in line with GDS (Government Digital Service) standards
* Solid appreciation of security standards applicable to military or sensitive public‑sector digital services
* Deep technical background, including hands‑on software development within digital service environments
* Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to lead both technical and business teams to successful outcomes
* Required: Active SC clearance, gained within the MoD or a comparable government department
Additional Information
* Rate offered: Up to £585 per day
* IR35 Status: Outside
* Start Date: ASAP
* Location: 1 day per week onsite in Hampshire
* Initial Duration: 12 Months (Significant opportunity for extension)
