Due to our continued growth and expansion, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our organisation in the role of Trainee Mechanical Estimator. Key responsibilities and duties for this role: As a Trainee Mechanical Estimator, you will work closely with the Estimating and Contracts teams to support the preparation of accurate and competitive project cost estimates. This is a development role with training and mentoring provided. Your duties will include: Assisting in the review and analysis of project drawings, specification, and tender documentation. Supporting the preparation of detailed take-offs and material quantity schedules. Conducting desktop research into material, plant, and labour costs. Requesting and collecting quotations from suppliers and subcontractors. Comparing supplier / subcontractor quotations with support from senior estimators. Assisting in the preparation of submission of competitive tender bids. Helping with the production of Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and tender summary documents. Attending site visits and tender meetings where required. Maintaining and updating estimating records, pricing databases, and supplier lists. Learning to interpret mechanical system design in line with project requirements. Essential Skills and Qualifications: Strong numerical and analytical skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Well-organised with excellent attention to detail. Eager to learn and develop within a collaborative team environment. Good verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated with a proactive attitude. Previous work placement or experience within a mechanical or M&E contracting environment. A Level 3 qualification with relevant experience in construction or estimating may also be considered. Desirable Skills and Qualifications: Familiarity with estimating or construction software Awareness of mechanical building systems is an advantage HNC / HND Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related construction discipline (or currently working towards one).
