In our Technology department we’re seeking an Enterprise Architectwith Customer Experience and Operations (Utilities) expertise to work withour Head of Technology Business Planning, Strategy and Architecture to develop Severn Trent’s target customer architecture, analysing our business strategies, and ensuring that the future Technology Strategy enables these.
As our newest Enterprise Architect in the team, you’ll play a pivotal role in translating business strategy into enterprise-wide technology direction, ensuring alignment through structured architecture services and governance.
As an Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for defining and maintaining the enterprise architecture framework, ensuring alignment between business strategy and technology delivery. You will work across multiple domains, engaging with senior stakeholders to influence decision-making and drive architectural governance, innovation, and transformation. You will own the target-state architecture for customer contact, billing, and field service, while leading the evolution of Kraken, Genesys, Twilio, SAP, and Salesforce FSM to deliver resilient, scalable customer experiences and efficient meter‑to‑cash.
You will contribute to and lead across our six core Enterprise Architecture services, including future state planning, vendor insight, enterprise capability alignment, strategic business planning, early-stage solutioning, and governance.
Your key responsibilities will include:-
* Lead and evolve enterprise architecture standards, principles, and 12–36 month technology roadmaps across key domains (contact centre, billing, CRM/MDM, integrations, field service).
* Provide strategic insight on emerging technologies, industry trends, vendor landscapes, and ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory frameworks.
* Shape business and portfolio strategies with senior leaders, ensuring technology investments deliver measurable outcomes across customer experience, operations, and data quality.
* Govern architectural practices through design forums and oversight, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment to strategic principles.
* Champion innovation, mentor architects, support solution shaping for early‑stage demand, and guide major change programmes to manage technical risk and ensure integrated delivery.
* Support procurement evaluations, provide team leadership and career coaching, and participate in out‑of‑hours IT leadership responsibilities.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
With a proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at the highest levels, this role demands you to be able to simplify complexity and guide the organisation through large‑scale architectural challenges with confidence. You’ll bring deep mastery of enterprise architecture design and governance, supported by strong awareness of emerging technologies and their strategic impact. Your understanding of leading architectural frameworks—from TOGAF to Zachman—will enable you to align technical direction with corporate governance while helping to foster innovation across the organisation.
You’ll operate across all architecture domains, from data and security to integration and solution design, with particular strength in event‑driven and API‑first integration, identity and consent, data protection, and observability. With a track record of improving contact centre and billing performance through architectural excellence—ideally in utilities, retail energy, or other high‑volume customer operations—you’ll also bring sharp consultancy skills and the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively. Experience optimising usage‑based platform costs (such as Genesys/Twilio) and SaaS consumption will further set you apart.
