Volunteering Support Officer Belfast, North Down & Ards, Lisburn & Castlereagh Location: Belfast office base with travel across Belfast, North Down & Ards, and Lisburn & Castlereagh (hybrid working policy in place) Salary: £25,476 per annum Contract: Fixed-term for 18 months Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (evening and weekend work may be required at times to fulfil the obligations of the post) This post has been funded through Lisburn City and Castlereagh Councils PeacePlus programme. The Role Volunteer Now is seeking a motivated Volunteering Support Officer to promote volunteering and provide a support service for volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations across Belfast, North Down & Ards and Lisburn & Castlereagh Council areas. This role will focus on increasing participation in volunteering, supporting organisations to adopt best practice, and strengthening local volunteer infrastructure. This role may also suit candidates who have worked as a volunteer co-ordinator, community engagement officer, outreach officer, development officer, or programme co-ordinator. Key Responsibilities Contribute to effective teamwork within the Community Engagement Team and across the organisation Implement annual operational plans for volunteering infrastructure support Implement agreed systems for measuring, monitoring and reporting performance against key performance indicators and outcomes Represent Volunteer Now as appropriate Identify opportunities for improvement and income generation across the organisation Raise the profile of volunteering in line with Volunteer Nows communications strategy through social media, campaigns and promotional activity Provide an effective information service on volunteering to potential volunteers through information stands, personal contact, the website and other channels Provide an effective information service for organisations and support them to register and develop volunteer opportunities Support effective facilitation of a web-based matching service between organisations and individuals using Be Collective and other Volunteer Now systems Raise awareness of volunteering good practice and support organisations to implement good practice, including signposting to Volunteer Now Enterprises Ltd services such as training and Investing in Volunteers Provide services to volunteer-involving organisations to ensure safe and effective good practice, including training, managing volunteers health checks and Access NI signatory support Support organisations to develop and promote innovative ways of involving volunteers such as Turn Up and Try Support the recruitment and involvement of volunteers by facilitating activities including mobile volunteering, one-off opportunities and campaigns Build and support relationships with local community planning partners, organisations and networks Recruit, train, support and manage volunteers to support events, programmes and activities on behalf of Volunteer Now and partner organisations Organise events for the purposes of networking, celebrating and communicating with volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations About You You will be passionate about community engagement and confident working with a wide range of stakeholders. You will bring: A third-level qualification or at least 3 years experience in the last 5 years of encouraging volunteering, supporting volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations The ability to successfully support the promotional activities of Volunteer Now, particularly increasing the number of volunteers and the diversity of volunteer opportunities The ability to work with organisations to develop and promote volunteer opportunities The ability to effectively recruit and support volunteers The ability to successfully use and develop database and website information tools, including managing and reviewing content, to meet organisational objectives A full driving licence and/or access to a form of transport to carry out the duties of the post effectively Benefits Flexible and hybrid working arrangements Generous annual leave, rising with service Pension contributions of 4.5% after probation Training and development opportunities Supportive organisational culture How to Apply If youre passionate about volunteering and community engagement, wed love to hear from you.
