At The Prince of Wales Hospice, we are dedicated to providing outstanding care and support to patients and their families. Our retail operations play a vital role in raising funds to support our services, and we are proud of the professionalism and high standards our teams uphold.
We are seeking a Van Driver to join our bank of casual workers. You will provide a high-quality delivery and collection service for the Hospice, ensuring excellent customer service.
This is a physically demanding but rewarding role, where you’ll also help raise awareness of the Hospice cause.
About the Role
* Safely and respectfully driving a 3.5 tonne Luton van (or similar)
* Greeting customers and donors in a manner which positively reflects the high standards and reputation of the Hospice;
* Transport stock between Hospice shops:
* Effectively plan and manage own routes to ensure the numbers of deliveries to the shops are maximised and conducted safely;
* Accurately complete necessary paperwork in relation to collections.
* Ensuring safe and proper use and day to day maintenance of van and equipment;
* As required, work in the Warehouse or support other shops in the Hospice's portfolio;
* Help in the transportation of equipment to and from shops and events as required; and
* To adhere to safe working practices.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
* A full driving licence and experience driving a 3.5 tonne Luton van.
* Good knowledge of safe manual handling techniques.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to plan routes and complete paperwork accurately.
* Knowledge of the Pontefract and Five Towns area (desirable).
* Experience supervising others (desirable).
* This bank role offers flexibility and hours to suit your availability.
Successful candidates will be added to our ‘bank’ list of workers. As such you will not be an employee of the Hospice but from time to time we may call upon you to work for us to provide cover. Inclusion on our ‘bank’ list does not affect your right to work elsewhere and to be listed on other casual work lists without hindrance. Any offer of work is made purely at the discretion of the Hospice, and the Hospice is under no obligation to offer further work in the future.
