This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with a leading custody and securities services business, providing strategic legal guidance and supporting innovative products and services across multiple jurisdictions.
The Client
Our client is a leading global financial services organization with a strong presence across EMEA. They are seeking a Custody Lawyer (Vice President level) to join their in-house legal team. The business partners with prominent institutional clients worldwide and is known for driving innovation, delivering complex financial solutions, and supporting high-value transactional work.
The Role
This is a senior in-house legal role working closely with the custody and securities services business. The position involves supporting product development, advising on regulatory changes, and providing day-to-day legal guidance. Key responsibilities include:
* Providing legal advice, drafting, and negotiating transaction documentation and contracts across EMEA, including Ireland, Luxembourg, and the UK.
* Advising on key legal and regulatory issues impacting the custody and securities services business.
* Collaborating with product, business, and compliance teams to assess and implement new regulatory requirements.
* Assessing legal risk, reviewing policies and procedures, and supporting mitigation strategies.
* Managing external counsel on specialist matters when required.
* Participating in projects that impact operational and legal processes, including implementing new business initiatives.
* Partnering with stakeholders globally across legal, compliance, tax, credit, and other corporate functions.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* England & Wales qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE, gained either in private practice or in-house.
* Strong negotiation and drafting skills, with experience handling complex commercial contracts and regulatory matters.
* Proven ability to partner with the business to deliver practical legal solutions.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong stakeholder management abilities.
* Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
* Background in securities services or financial operations is advantageous but not essential.
