Clinical Fellow ST5 In Cardiac Anaesthesia
Closing date: 31 May 2026
This post is designed to support learning and development in cardiac anaesthesia and the inherent flexibility on offer affords us the ability to provide a fellowship bespoke to the training needs of the individual.
As the sole fellow working across two surgical theatres and two cardiology labs there is the opportunity to pursue specific interests and of course to build a logbook sufficient for TOE accreditation.
Main duties of the job
Our service has a strong history in quality improvement — notably having won both oral and poster competitions at ACTACC 2024 and also benefits from tremendous support from a team of research nurses. We therefore expect our fellow to be well supported in their non‑clinical development, with specific rostered time allocated to these pursuits.
Of note, the post benefits from non‑residential on‑calls with the aim of maximising the training that occurs within working hours, whilst also giving the successful candidate some supported experience akin to a consultant job plan.
Our workload includes surgery for coronary artery bypass grafting, valvular disease and aortic work. In addition, we see a number of high‑risk patients including those for re‑do surgery and those with infective endocarditis. We do not undertake ACHD work or transplant.
