Clyde Division – Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH)
Main Theatre Department

Theatre Healthcare Support Worker – Band 3
Full-time: 37 hours per week

All posts will be based within the Inpatient Theatre Unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), Clyde Sector, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

Do you want to become part of a dynamic and friendly team?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Theatre Healthcare Support Worker to join the Main Theatre and Day Surgery Unit at RAH. This role forms part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary team (MDT), working alongside nurses, operating department practitioners, assistant perioperative practitioners, and surgical colleagues to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care to patients accessing our services.

The Main Theatre Department comprises nine operating theatres, with a further two theatres within the Day Surgery Unit. The department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including public holidays, providing surgical services across a range of specialties including urology, gynaecology, dentistry, cardiology, general surgery, colorectal, ENT, and colorectal robotic surgery. Robotic surgery is delivered twice weekly at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH).

The department is supported by a Perioperative Education Senior Charge Nurse who works closely with staff to support learning, development, and ongoing professional growth.

Applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in working within the perioperative environment. While previous healthcare experience is advantageous, it is not essential, as full training will be provided. Successful candidates must demonstrate flexibility, as the service operates across a seven-day rota. There may also be a requirement for multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde to meet service needs.
