Job description
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Planner to join our clients growing team and work closely with the Transport Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of operations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in transport planning who is looking to further develop their career within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
While previous transport planning experience is essential, the successful candidate does not need prior experience in the waste management industry, as full industry training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and coordinate a fleet of Tipper wagons and Artic tractor units
* Maximise daily load counts through effective geographical planning
* Manage daily activity using web-based fleet tracking systems
* Use transport planning software to optimise routes and schedules
* Arrange tip sites ahead of deliveries
* Ensure loading equipment is deployed to sites efficiently
* Conduct daily driver debriefs
* Liaise with site managers and support forward planning operations
* Monitor driver paperwork and reconcile deliveries daily
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs
* Maintain accurate transport documentation in line with company procedures
Compliance Support
Working alongside the Transport Manager, you will also assist with:
* Drivers’ hours and working time regulations
* Vehicle maintenance compliance and O Licence requirements
* Vehicle defect management
* Tachograph compliance and licence administration
* DOC and waste management paperwork
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience in transport planning
* Strong understanding of drivers’ hours and working time regulations
* Experience with fleet planning and return loads
* Excellent geographical knowledge
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Flexible and adaptable approach to route planning
* Confident using fleet tracking systems and Microsoft Excel
* Proactive problem-solving mindset
* A willingness to learn and develop within the waste management sector
