About the Role
Exciting opportunity to be part of the OT Department and part of a multi‑disciplinary ward team at Oxleas House Adult Acute Inpatient Service across our three wards: Maryon, Shrewsbury and Avery. The post holder will work with and under the supervision of the OT team and contribute to the development and delivery of occupational therapy interventions and team interventions.
Key Responsibilities
* Work as part of the multi‑disciplinary team (MDT).
* Use technical, creative and psychosocial skills to deliver occupational therapy interventions for individuals and groups with mental health difficulties, focusing on social inclusion and skills development.
* Plan, facilitate and co‑facilitate group activities such as creative activities, fitness, healthy wellbeing, music, gardening and relaxation.
* Deliver 1:1 interventions to build functional and social skills, structure routines and link clients into the community.
* Work effectively as a member of a team in providing a programme of ward therapeutic activities.
* Engage clients in therapeutic activities to promote independence, well‑being and social inclusion.
* Under supervision of a registered OT, facilitate and co‑facilitate planned group work and individual activities.
* Engage in ongoing continuous assessment and treatment, adjusting clinical interventions based on fluctuating needs of service users.
* Contribute to formal OT assessments and provide feedback on clients’ occupational functioning.
* Assist in the implementation, evaluation and modification of OT and team interventions.
* Instruct and support service users to achieve their goals.
* Undertake delegated tasks to support the safe and smooth running of the service.
* Work within the OT Clinical Competencies Framework.
* Collaborate with other multi‑professionals from the wider MDT.
* Initiate the planning and implementation of therapeutic group work, including writing protocols for groups within the service.
* Attend OT Peer Review and Therapies meetings as required.
* Participate in the CPD programme, including regular professional supervision, appraisals and quality improvement projects.
Training & Qualification
Essential:
* NVQ 3 qualification or equivalent training + experience.
* At least 2 years experience of working with people in a caring setting/role.
Desirable:
* Experience of running groups.

* Experience of working in a team.
* Expression of interest in working within Occupational Therapy.
* Good observation skills.
