The Electrical Engineer will have a strong electrical background in the DNO, IDNO or ICP industry with experience within the renewable or embedded generation sector. They will have industry authorisations with the supporting qualifications and experience. The role will support the delivery of a portfolio of construction projects by providing technical assistance to the project team.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage the electrical element on a portfolio of construction projects from design handover to construction completion, including cable testing and commissioning assistance.
* Provide technical support to the Construction Supervisor and Project Manager.
* Chair project technical meetings with design and operations teams, including DNO and client technical advisors.
* Review project designs to ensure readiness for handover to the construction team.
* Assist the Project Manager in managing the delivery programme, ensuring it is logical, efficient, and meets timescales.
* Ensure all electrical works comply with relevant standards such as DNO G81, BS standards, and client ERs.
* Determine labour and resource requirements and assist with technical scope for tenders.
* Ensure projects exceed client expectations.
Project-specific responsibilities
* Communication: Manage and liaise with project team members, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Provide technical assistance and training as needed.
* Contractual & Legal: Ensure compliance with the contract between the client and g2E.
* Drawings & Specifications: Review and ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications, including DNO G81 and client ERs.
* Planning: Ensure adherence to client and LA planning conditions.
* Risk Management: Assist with the Risk Register and update regularly.
* Purchase Orders: Ensure procurement processes are followed.
* Reporting: Assist in preparing project reports and updates.
* POW: Keep the POW updated with project changes.
* Street Works & NJUG: Ensure compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations.
* Sub-Contractors/Suppliers: Manage processes, scope of works, T&Cs, RAMS, and support tendering.
* Supervision: Ensure adequate subcontractor supervision on site.
* Support to Project Managers and Site Managers: Provide electrical support and cover in absences.
* Commissioning & QA: Plan and oversee commissioning, ensure quality assurance, and compile relevant documentation.
* Quantity Surveyor Support: Assist with tenders, scopes, and technical support for EWN, EOT, or CE.
* Meetings & Audits: Attend various project and compliance meetings and audits.
* Design & Sales advice: Provide technical advice, review designs, and support sales tenders.
* HSEQ: Maintain safety and health standards, assist with RAMS and audits.
* DSR`S/SSOW & As Builts: Ensure compliance and timely submission of as-built data.
* Competency: Maintain and enhance team and personal competencies through training and CPD.
Skills & Knowledge
* HND or degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 5 years in relevant construction projects, including LV/HV cable laying and distribution systems up to 132kV.
* Experience with DNO, IDNO, or ICP projects, especially in renewable or embedded generation.
* Previous AP or SAP authorisations.
* Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
* Knowledge of industry standards, processes, and procedures.
* Understanding of G81, Sect 50, SAP, and DNO authorisations.
* Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite and MS Project.
